Twitter Challenge: Day 9 – Direct Messages

You have rested enough on Saturday by now, so have you checked Twitter yet?

Remember how we already talked about using Twitter at different times, though do you also know you can use Twitter in different ways with those people you follow?

Sure, Twitter is meant to be public, and using public tags like #TribalSupport is a great way to connect with your (new) community. But do you also know you can connect privately with other people who follow you? So, if you follow people or colleagues back and forth, you can send them Direct Messages — found via hte Messages tab on the top of the screen or referred to as DM (Direct Message) or DT (Direct Tweet). These will NOT appear in your timeline or in your tag streams, and as they do not require knowing anybody else’s email address or phone number, this can be a useful way to quickly communicate without having to leave the platform.

So, Tribe, here are our Challenge Steps for today:

1. Post 2 original Tweets (use the #TribalSupport tag if it fits with personal or professional development). Tag somebody in at least one of your Tweets using @ plus their Twitter name.

2. Reply to at least 2 Tweets of others (use the #TribalSupport tag if it fits).

3. RT at least 2 Tweets of other people (from within #TribalSupport or via one of the other tags you have found).

4. Send at least 2 Direct Messages to people who follow you (and best if you follow them back, too) to engage in personal, direct conversation.

Share how it goes!

Remember, we are doing this challenge to Connect (with each other on Twitter via #TribalSupport), Engage (with a wider audience and via hashtags #), and Grow (outside our comfort zone by learning in public), then simple action steps that we repeat become good habits in our lives. These initial steps will help us to reach the challenge of this goal through step-by-step progression of using Twitter as a tool to help us and our professional interests.

Always remember, use the #TribalSupport tag some place in your Tweet so we can see each other (and try clicking on it to see parts of the conversation you may have missed!). Reply with any comments, questions, thoughts, or ideas as well!

This Twitter Challenge is formally happening within the Life Coach Tribal Support community, though as it occurs in public in Twitter, it is really viewable and open to anybody who wants to follow along or participate in it via the #TribalSupport tag.
