You have one more week this year . . .
We are in the final working week of 2018 before the holidays (Christmas, Yule, New Year’s, extended Hanukah, Festivus, etc.) so let’s go back to the beginning of 2018, shall we?
Remember those New Year’s Resolutions you came up with? Perhaps you called them your Goals for 2018 (like I did) or something else, but a new year / new you sorta thing, right?
Go on, go look them up . . . I’ll wait.
OK, let’s pretend you found them and let’s further pretend you did them, or at least did something with them even if that just means you thought about them.
Get that nasty voice out of your head, that one that has the waiving finger of shame, that sense that you can’t do anything you try to commit yourself to, or the one that almost justified how busy you were . . . this . . . entire . . . year.
Let’s flip the fear of failing to one of opportunity. You still have one full week of possibilities ahead of you, so what will you do with it? What progress can you still make on this goal, so you end the year with the same high and belief in yourself that you likely started the year with?
Don’t worry if you can’t find your 2018 goals.
Let’s reframe this a bit . . . what goal do you have NOW that you want to achieve this week? What goal did you think was unworkable that you can still work on? Better yet, what can you do this week because it is your goal to achieve now?
Today is Monday, so you have 5 days, give or take, to make a difference to yourself. What you do with them is up to you, so how much do you really want to achieve the goal that is most valuable to you now?
Given that, what actions will you take to make this happen? Remember, even a small action moves you further ahead than you were at this time this morning, right? Do your goal because you want to, and not because you have to or somebody expects it of you.
Expect it of yourself . . . that is more than enough!
